Food Vacation Day 2 Dinner: Martini Goose@Figls

Sorry guys for the silence - I just got overwhelmed with work - terrible excuse, I know. And I just realized that I haven't finished blogging about the rest of the Food Vacation we had in NOVEMBER... It is already December and Day 2/3/4 are still "Drafts" in my Blog-storage...

And the worst part of this 2 weeks without posting anything - I totally missed the chance to write about Christmas Cookies or Christmas Markets! :( Boooh. Next year! (I am adding a post-it on my pile of "To-Do" Post-its.)

Well, my goal is to post the remaining meals of the Food Vacation before December 24th. So our second Day started with a huge breakfast at Weltcafe (Click here if you haven't read it yet.). If you think that was a great start, well, then you are absolutely right! But it got even better!

We drove up to Grinzing and went Figls, a restaurant that offers delicious Austrian dishes. We were lucky that we had a car that day because otherwise it can take quite a time to get up there (of course depending on where you are living exactly). But the food was definetly worth the trip.

We ordered a Goose soup as a starter, a Martini Goose with red cabbage and potatoe dumplings, onion beef roast with potatoes (sorry, no picture) and as a dessert - the highlight - we had chestnut purree with cherries and coffee.

I just love Goose and every year in November during "Goose Time" I am looking forward to either making it myself (tried it once - now I know why people usually like to go out and order it in a restaurant) or reserve a table at a restaurant that serves Goose.

I know it doesn't look huge but it was a huge portion (and trust me, I can eat a lot.).

Luckily we saved some room for dessert:

Dessert! Yum!
Dessert! Yum!

Did you know that I have weakness for chestnut (and everything that can be made with chestnut)?? To be honest, we were so full and did not have any room left for dessert, but I just couldn't imagine walking out of this restaurant without ordering chestnut mousse.
